UNIV. OF IDAHO HOSTS THREE BEEF SCHOOLS IN S.E. IDAHO JAN. 5-7

MALAD, Idaho–The University of Idaho’s Winter 2000 Beef Schools will be held Jan. 5 in Blackfoot, Jan. 6 in Downey and Jan. 7 at Montpelier.

Susan Duckett, University of Idaho meat quality and consistency specialist, will address beef-quality losses and Beef 2000. Feedlot operator Shane Berquist of Agri-Beef, seed stock producer Rod Wesselman of the American Angus Association, and a local cow-calf producer from each location will discuss managing variation in herds.

Sara Braasch of the Idaho Cattle Association and Leah Clark of the Idaho Beef Council will present industry updates.

The Beef Schools will begin with registration at 9:30 a.m. at each location. The programs themselves will begin at 10 a.m. and conclude in the mid-afternoon. Sites for the schools are the Colonial Inn in Blackfoot, Flaggs West in Downey and the Ranch Hand in Montpelier.
