THANK YOU to all alumni who returned their alumni updates by September 30, 2006. The following individuals were selected in the drawing for prizes.

50s

Dorothy Felt Conway ’54, Kailua, HI. Dorothy works one day a week  as a nutritionist at a Hawaiian health  center. She enjoys showing people around the island.

Quinton Rogers ’58, Davis, CA, has retired from the University of California after 40 years of research and teaching in the veterinary school. His research focused on companion animal nutrition. He is recognized for his work in the pet food industry regarding amino acid nutrition and metabolism. He was involved in the Nutrient Research Council for many decades.

A. James Sather ’55, Lake Oswego, OR. retired from teaching high school science in 1992. James and Dianne enjoy traveling in their motor home. James joined the UI Golden I’s this year and attended        the reunion in April. The Sather’s nine grandchildren and their garden keep them busy.

Marvin Bingham ’69, Rupert. Marvin has been a farmer since 1969. He was elected Minidoka County commissioner in 2002.

70s

Gene Stroebel ’75, Mooresville, NC.  Gene is employed as a finish fabricator and mechanic on a NASCAR race team. He has a 21-year-old son, Landon.

90s

Sow Lee (Christina) Tang ’91, Arcadia, CA. Christina moved back to the United States in 2002. She returned to the UI in 2005 for a visit with former professors and friends.  Christina says, “It was a wonderful experience just connecting back to memories.”

Lisa (Schmidt) Uhlenkott ’98, Pullman, WA. Kolby, Lawrence, and Karissa Rose were born on June 3, 2005. They joined sister, Mikayla Marie, who is 2 years old.

Joy (Sellers) White ’98, Hillsboro, OR. Joy and husband Alan had their first baby. A girl named Keelin Ione was born on January 7, 2005.

Call for Alumni Award Nominations

Each year the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences Alumni & Friends Association recognizes individuals whose careers and accomplishments bring honor and recognition to the college with the following awards: Distinguished Alumni, Alumni Achievement Award, and Distinguished Associate Alumni Award.


Nominees for the Distinguished Alumni and Alumni Achievement awards must be a graduate of the UI CALS, have a career in agriculture, family and consumer sciences, or a related field, be in early to mid career, and have established an exceptional career and/or community service record thus far, with indications of continued outstanding attainment in the future. Nominees may be retired or still active.

Nominees for the Distinguished Associate Alumni Award must have a distinguished career record and must be a strong 

supporter of the college over an extended period of time.

For award recipients to be recognized at the April college awards banquet, 

nominations are due January 15, 2007. However, nominations will be accepted throughout the year. Nominations should include
