Wheat Sawflies
Pachynematus spp.

Adults are black and tan stout-bodied sawflies about 12 mm long that resemble bees. Larvae are light green, up to 15 mm long, and caterpillar-like. They have six pairs of abdominal prolegs. Damage is caused by larvae feeding on leaf blades, causing defoliation of cereal crops. Host plants: cereals, grasses.
