caterpillars are 50 mm long with light stripes
along the body. They are similar to the western
yellowstriped armyworm but lack the
inverted ''Y'' on the head. Adults are
grayish-brown moths. The larva feeds on leaves
causing plant defoliation. Host plants: sugar
beets, alfalfa, hops, vegetables.
