Colorado Potato Beetle
Leptinotarsa decemlineata (Say)

The adult beetle is about 10 mm long and 9 mm wide, ovate, convex, and hard-bodied. It is yellowish with 10 black stripes on its wing covers. The sluglike larvae are cherry red except for glistening black heads and feet. As the larva grows, the body color changes to a yellowish-red or orange. Adults and larvae feed on leaves of potatoes and other plants in the potato family. Host plants: potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant, nightshade.
