Cattle Drive

A Working Partnership

The Nancy M. Cummings Research, Extension and Education Center is unique in the opportunities it can offer to the upper Salmon River Valley and Idaho’s cattle producers.

The Cummings Center will provide a place for the University of Idaho to offer classes, field days and workshops. Its cattle herd will number 350 to 400 breeding Angus-Hereford cows, typical of many Idaho beef operations.

Its research will target issues important to cattle producers. The center will host 4-H and FFA programs. A cattle producers’ advisory group will help guide its operations.

The Cummings Center is designed to serve the public. The Auen Foundation’s generous donation requires a working partnership between the university and public.

Cattle Drive

We need your help to secure the ranch.

The Cummings Center agreement calls for the donation of at least 100 cattle from producers to demonstrate public support. Your donation can be either heifers or cows. The first donation, an Angus given by Clyde Nelson of Nelson Angus near Salmon, calved shortly after her arrival.

Members of the center’s Cattle Advisory Committee and the Idaho Cattle Association support this cattle drive.
